About Ronald Spitz

Mr. Spitz is a Principal and Actuary for Ronald Spitz & Associates, Inc., an actuarial, administrative and employee benefit consulting firm located in Des Plaines, Illinois. Through December 31, 1995, Mr. Spitz was associated with Tepfer & Spitz, Ltd., a Northbrook firm which was formed in 1990, where he was a Principal and Actuary. Prior to forming Tepfer & Spitz, Ltd. in 1990, Mr. Spitz was director of the Actuarial and Employee Benefit section for the Chicago Office of Laventhol & Horwath. During recent years Mr. Spitz has held positions as Vice President of Hay/Huggins Company, Inc. and as an assistant actuary with Buck Consultants, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois.

During more than 35 years working as an actuary, Mr. Spitz has spent 30 years as a consulting actuary. Before joining Buck Consultants, Inc. in 1982, he was associated with Alexander and Alexander, Inc. (currently AON Corporation) in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Spitz is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (1980), a member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries (1996) and an Enrolled Actuary (1981). He also holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois (1971).

Mr. Spitz has performed actuarial services for the employee benefit plans of some Fortune 500 corporations and has served as a consultant to public retirement plans and medium-sized corporate plans. In his current capacity, his primary responsibility is as consultant and actuary to employee benefit plans (defined benefit and defined contribution plans) of small and medium-sized corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships and non-profit organizations. Additionally, he has provided litigation support and expert valuations with regard to actuarial matters in matrimonial dissolutions, loss of income situations and other ERISA litigation.

Mr. Spitz has been an instructor for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, teaching classes in the area of Employee Benefits and Compensation for closely-held businesses.

In 1972 and 1975, Mr. Spitz assisted in the writing of the publicly distributed “Notes on Old Age Benefits Under Social Security” published by Alexander and Alexander, Inc.

Currently, Mr. Spitz serves as plan consultant and resource person to three local small-size accounting firms covering the issues of qualified employee benefit plans.
